JOB SUMMARY:
The telecommunications specialist position installs, operates, programs and maintains
hardware and software for our customers on a hosted VoIP solution, Fuze. Some customer environments may require dedicated circuits (T1, PRI/BRI, ISDN, etc.) and this position will be also responsible for assessing telecommunication needs, assisting with circuit installation, and acting as the liaison between the customer and the carrier(s).
ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS:
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure and will interface at all levels of the firm including our customer(s).
SKILLS, ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Programs, analyzes and resolves problems related to telecommunications systems'
software and hardware.
- Meets with customers and users to assess current systems, determine
telecommunication needs, explain the costs and benefits of available options, prepare
preliminary design proposals systems to meet customer needs, and coordinate
installation with vendors.
- Provides ongoing technical and operational assistance for all telecommunications
systems serviced by ISM, schedules and oversees contracted maintenance and
repair services, and provides consultation and assistance as assigned.
- Coordinates moves, adds and changes of telecommunication equipment by: obtaining
written estimates and authorizations, implementing software changes, contacting
vendors to schedule service or purchase equipment, invoicing users for services, and
maintaining an inventory of devices at customer sites.
- Installs and tests telecommunication components, including analog circuits, T1 lines,
transmission lines, and circuit packs; operates and maintains data test equipment,
analyzes telecommunications system data, and makes corrections to the system as
needed.
- Trains end users in the use of various kinds of telecommunication equipment in
classroom and on-site settings.
- Responds to technical emergencies when needed.
Work Environment
This position is performed mainly remotely, but may require visits to customer sites with exposure to a minimal level of noise. May view a computer screen up to 4 hours a day.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or
crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree; Candidate can supplement degree requirement with 4 years of functional and verifiable work experience.
